Apps

Austin Lane Technologies’ ALMobile Productivity Dashboard, standard in ALMobile’s Production Tracking application, allows users in real-time to monitor active and current projects. ALMobile users can visualize jobs progress, receive real-time updates about projects and filter the data—all on one screen.

The American Wood Council has updated its free Connection Calculator based on the National Design Specification® for Wood Construction as referenced in the 2015 International Building Code. The app calculates capacities for single bolts, nails, lag screws and wood screws; determines lateral and withdrawal connection values; and includes adjustment factors for temperature, wet service, varying load durations and end grain. AWC has more free web-, mobile- and tablet-based apps to streamline building codes and standards compliance.

Products

Designed for flexible jobsite progress documentation, productivity, risk mitigation and safety, Sensera’s PTZ500 jobsite camera provides professional-grade time-lapse video, ultra-high-resolution panoramas and live video streaming with interactive pan-tilt and zoom.

CM Labs Simulations’ newest Training Pack simulates mobile crane tandem lift exercises along with a competency demonstration exercise for assessing crane operator skills. The tandem lift exercise teaches the lead crane operator how to maneuver a steel pipe load in tandem with a secondary crane, operated from another simulator connected on the network.

Trimble’s® X7 3D laser scanning system captures 3D scanning data to provide automatic registration of point cloud data in the field with Trimble Registration Assist. The X7 solution is fully integrated with Trimble Field Link software to provide streamlined workflows from scanning to modeling to field layout. The solution also includes a first-of-its-kind laser pointer using scan data to improve communication between stakeholders and reduce rework.

Software & In the Cloud

A1A Software introduced five web tools for task specific lift planning activities in 3D Lift Plan. Users can to draw on screen with a finger with Sketch Pad or enter an address so Google Map displays lift and crane locations and other site-specific information. Crane Comparison allows users to compare up to 10 crane load charts at a time. Load Chart Viewer transfers information to an infographic that overlays load chart data. With Crane Loads Calculator, users determine maximum outrigger loads for a specific crane configuration without creating a full 3D Lift Plan. Mat Calculator allows users to select the appropriate outrigger pads or crane pads for the allowable ground bearing pressure.

Enstoa's Thryssa for capital projects management utilizes Oracle Primavera Unifier for management of project costs, contracts and collaboration; Oracle Primavera P6 as the scheduling solution; Tableau’s ready-to-go dashboards for analysis and visualization across an entire project portfolio; and Enstoa Adapters pre-configured to facilitate the transfer of data between these systems and the ERP system. Thryssa is installed on scalable Oracle and Enstoa cloud infrastructure, complete with full security, hosting and disaster recovery services.

Trimble® SiteVision™ system, an outdoor augmented reality solution, enables users to visualize 2D and 3D data on any project site with cellular or internet connectivity. Combining hardware and software in an integrated, lightweight handheld or pole-mounted solution, users can view 3D models and assets in a real-world environment at a 1:1 scale. Trimble SiteVision Integrated Positioning System integrates the Trimble Catalyst DA1 Antenna, Electronic Distance Measurement rangefinder and power management into a handheld device that connects to an Android™ phone.

Partnerships & Acquisitions

Sigfox Canada, Kryton International and Sensohive Technologies ApS have announced an official partnership as Kryton becomes the exclusive North American distributor Sensohive, best known for its Maturix® technology, which runs on Sigfox’s global 0G network. This partnership will allow contractors to take advantage of technologies that monitor concrete hardening in real time from any internet-connected device.

Video & Cool Stuff

Sure-Fi's wireless signal “leaps” through tall buildings of metal, brick, concrete and anything else preventing typical signals from getting through. Sure-Fi signals can travel one mile through obstructions or more than 50 miles line-of-sight by using patented radio technology based on Chirp Modulation, a radio signal where the signal increases and decreases in frequency, creating a pulse or chirp that contain the transmitted data. Sure-Fi will send CE This Week readers free transmitters so they can test the technology to send wireless signals through any surface and for more than 50 miles.

ARC’s 2019 Design and Construction Technology Report (registration required) explores key technology obstacles that affect productivity and actionable insights to improve results.
