A testament both to technology and to the resiliency of the construction industry, the “Construction Outlook 2021: Risks & Opportunities” report has been published by Autodesk in tandem with the BuildingConnected analytics team and Edward R. Zarenski from Construction Analytics.

The report has revealed a number of key industry insights, including:

  • Commercial bidding activity has surpassed pre-pandemic levels.
  • 2020 bidding activity peaked in November.
  • However, bidding activity hit an all-time high in January 2021.

The rise in bidding activity—an increase of 36% in January 2021—combined with consistent project volume, signals that delayed projects are beginning to come back online. In addition, Autodesk found that despite this bidding spike, almost 80% of teams are able to turn bids around in the standard, seven-day timeframe, which is proof positive that construction is on the mend.
