Under a recently proposed rule, companies with 250 or more employees would be required to submit injury and illness records to OSHA on a quarterly basis. Firms with 20 or more employees in industries with high injury and illness rates, including construction, would have to electronically submit a summary of their work-related injuries and illnesses once a year. Currently, employers must keep this information but don’t have to submit it electronically.

OSHA plans to post the information online in a publicly searchable database. Comments on the proposed rule are due Feb. 6.
