Fifty-four percent of AEC executives report they have lost employees to the oil and gas industry during the past two years, according to a survey conducted by Morrissey Goodale LLC. Additionally, 32 percent of respondents indicated they have lost employees to utilities, 16 percent have had staff members recruited away by both the manufacturing and high-tech industries, and 5 percent have lost employees to real estate companies. However, Morrissey Goodale does not expect the trend to continue on the oil and gas front, as plummeting oil prices have caused many energy companies to enact mass layoffs.
