Construction Employment News: August 2021
Here’s a look at employment moves that occurred in the construction industry this month.
ABC-NJ
Derek DeLuca joined the Associated Builders and Contractors, New Jersey Chapter (ABC-NJ) as deputy director of government affairs. DeLuca brings experience in the legislative process and as a staffer on state- and county-level political campaigns. ABC is a national association representing 21,000 merit shop construction and construction-related firms in 69 Chapters across the United States.

Ann Guiberson was named president and CEO of the Associated Builders and Contractors Rocky Mountain Chapter (ABC RMC). Guiberson has more than 20 years of association leadership experience. ABC is a national association representing 21,000 merit shop construction and construction-related firms in 69 Chapters across the United States.
Bernhard
Lyndsey Mitchell was promoted to vice presidents of human resources for Bernhard, previously serving as director of human resource integration systems. Bernhard a privately-owned integrated solutions and energy services provider.
Big-D Pacific
Saylee Khawale joined Big-D Pacific, a subsidiary of Big-D Construction, as a project engineer, previously serving the company as an intern. Khawale will be responsible for supporting the project team in performing the technical aspect of managing the construction project.
Breeden Construction
Jessica Turner was promoted to assistant project manager and Ashley Gale was promoted to assistant superintendent for Breeden Construction. Breeden Construction is a design-build general contracting company.
Callahan Construction Managers
Fourteen employees with Callahan Construction Managers recently became PHIUS Certified Builders by Passive House Institute US, Inc., with two more employees on their way to certification. Passive House is a standard for energy efficiency to construct low energy-usage buildings. Callahan Construction Managers is a family-owned, full-service construction management company in the Northeast.
JE Dunn Construction
Mishaune Sawyer was named senior manager of diversity, equity and inclusion for JE Dunn Construction’s east region, including Atlanta, Charlotte, Charleston, Nashville, Raleigh, Savannah and Tampa. JE Dunn is a general building contractor providing construction management services through 23 offices nationwide.
Merchants Bonding Company
David Hewett was named chief underwriting officer of Merchants Bonding Company and will officially join the firm in mid-September. Merchants Bonding is among the top 15 surety bonding companies in the United States with an A.M. Best Rating of “A” excellent or better for 63 consecutive years.
Palmisano
Chris Masters joined Palmisano as team leader in its new Nashville office. Masters has 25 years of experience in construction management, employee development and supervisory positions. Palmisano is a next-generation construction company specializing in historic renovation, hospitality, multi-family housing, modernized health care facilities and heavy civil projects.
Stellar
Garland Smith joined Stellar as a business developer in the company's food logistics division, focusing on growing new and existing business relationships in the food service distribution, public refrigerated warehousing and retail supply chain sectors across the country. Stellar is a fully integrated design, engineering, construction, refrigeration and mechanical services firm.
Swinerton
Andrew Pearl, vice president and division manager of Swinerton, joined the Board of Rebuilding Together NYC—as part of the company’s corporate responsibility platform of giving back to communities in which their employees live and work. Swinerton, a full-service national commercial construction company, recently opened its first New York City office.
