Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) and Merit Canada signed a joint resolution expressing a commitment to support the merit shop and free enterprise philosophies, improve the construction industry and help contractors provide rewarding long-term careers for their employees. The organizations also will encourage and promote the safety and welfare of all employees in the construction industry; support government policies that encourage and facilitate the awarding of contracts without regard to protectionism; and increase international business opportunities for firms. Tim C. Walton, director of external affairs and public policy at CIANBRO, Pittsfield, Maine, and Ron Yoneda, corporate human resources manager at Site Energy Services, Sherwood Park, Alberta, are serving as ambassadors between the two organizations.
