The heavy construction and engineering industry recorded the second most severe driving incidents for service-based vehicles—29 percent above the national average of 2.5 severe driving incidents per every 1,000 miles driven, according to Fleetmatics’ FleetBeat report on the acceleration, turning, braking and speeding habits of approximately 177,000 U.S. customers. Public administration logged the most severe incidents (82 percent above the national average).

From a regional perspective, the top five states with the most severe driving incidents were New Mexico (101 percent higher than the national average), New Jersey, North Carolina, Texas and Louisiana. In contrast, North Dakota (53 percent below the national average), Delaware, Alabama, Iowa and Illinois registered the fewest severe driving incidents.
