Twenty percent of construction firm websites are mobile-friendly, putting building and construction at the bottom of the 10 industries audited by hibu, which provides digital marketing services to businesses. Twenty-five percent of electricians’ websites and 43 percent of plumbers’ websites are mobile-friendly. The study also found 59 percent of small and mid-size businesses’ websites do not allow customers to make purchases on mobile devices.

The hibu report determined more than half of U.S. adults use smartphones, and one-third use a tablet (that number has nearly doubled in the past year). Ninety-four percent of smartphone users search for information about local businesses and companies.
