Construction industry leaders from more than 100 companies pledged to hire 100,000 veterans in the next five years during the U.S. Department of Labor’s Veterans’ Employment in Construction National Symposium. Those taking the pledge seek to help more veterans find employment while bridging the projected workforce gap in the construction industry, which is expected to gain roughly 1.6 million new jobs and lose an estimated one-sixth of the current workforce to retirement by 2022.
